It’s not often that I can use the word “exciting” to describe a new lens. After all, they’re just bits of plastic. Right?
Zeiss DriveSafe lenses are without doubt the most clever bits of plastic I have ever worn. Oh and don’t just take my word for it, all of us here at Stanford Opticians wear them, and not just for driving, and not just at nighttime; these are lenses that can be worn all day.
It’s when it gets darker that things get interesting.
All those horrible light sources you get at night, from headlights to road lighting and reflections off a wet road, get partially absorbed or reflected by the lens which turns down the perceived glare by up to 64%. But the really clever bit is that things that are being illuminated by these lights remain just as bright as they should be.
Zeiss DriveSafe lenses also include something Zeiss calls Luminance Design Technology, which improves your depth of field and therefore your ability to judge distances in poor lighting, although this effect is much more subtle.
Anyway, we wouldn’t be without our DriveSafe lenses and have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who drives.
